A tree was blown down by thunderstorm winds onto an outbuilding in the 100 block of Ruskin Street.
Wider weather episode
A cold front moved into southwest Virginia early on June 30th, proceeding to stall out near the Blue Ridge mountains. The front interacted with a unstable, highly saturated environment to create scattered thunderstorms in southwest Virginia. Some of these storms produced damaging winds.
