A severe thunderstorm producing winds estimated near 60 mph knocked down multiple trees and wires throughout Saint Marys, with both lanes of West Benedict Street being closed for a period of time.
Wider weather episode
A shortwave trough in a warm and humid air mass allowed for convection across western Pennsylvania to continue tracking eastward across central Pennsylvania during the evening hours of July 15, 2024. Scattered instances of severe thunderstorm wind damage across mainly the northern tier and the Middle Susquehanna Valley occurred before continuing further east into eastern Pennsylvania during the evening hours.
