Event narrative

A severe thunderstorm producing winds estimated near 70 mph knocked down multiple trees and wires along the 7300 block of Route 87, blocking the roadway northeast of Forksville.

Wider weather episode

A shortwave trough in a warm and humid air mass allowed for convection across western Pennsylvania to continue tracking eastward across central Pennsylvania during the evening hours of July 15, 2024. Scattered instances of severe thunderstorm wind damage across mainly the northern tier and the Middle Susquehanna Valley occurred before continuing further east into eastern Pennsylvania during the evening hours.
