Wider weather episode
The moisture field of a tropical wave that was approaching the islands from the southeast and a low-level jet promoted wet and unstable conditions. Before midday, activity intensified and cloudiness increased resulting in an active day with multiple flood advisories and flash flood warnings due to a strong severe thunderstorm that
moved into the southeast bringing periods of heavy rain and wind gusts. In Guayama and Yabucoa, wind gusts of 50 and 48 mph respectively were recorded. Municipalities of the eastern and southeastern quadrants of Puerto Rico received the greatest accumulations from 3 to 5.5 inches.
