Palm Springs airport first 110F, reaching 112F.

After a month of cooler than average for coastal and valleys the first week of June began to heat up. Palm Springs reached its first 110F, topping at 112F on June 6. With the warm up the live fuel moisture and dead fuels dried quickly especially across the mountains and deserts. The Relay fire erupted on June 6, and then the Carmen fire on June 11 in Riverside County. Just south of I-10, the Carmen fire burned 65 acres and destroyed 4 outbuildings.
