Wider weather episode
A weak mid-level low was centered over the Florida Peninsula, with dry air aloft due to a Saharan Air Layer. Low-level southeast winds brought in sufficient moisture, which combined with steep mid-level lapse rates to support isolated strong to severe thunderstorms over portions of South Florida on the afternoon and evening of July 10th.
