Event narrative

The Pinto RAWS station recorded a gust to 60 mph with a passing thunderstorm. This storm also produced a gust to 49 mph at the KEEO ASOS at Meeker Airport.

Wider weather episode

With lingering midlevel moisture, modest instability, and a weak wave moving through the flow aloft, stronger showers and thunderstorms developed over the higher terrain north of I-70. Dry surface levels helped to enhance thunderstorm outflow winds, with peak gusts generally below severe criteria, but at least one gust above criteria recorded.
