Event narrative

A storm that formed near the Durango-La Plata County Airport produced heavy rainfall and strong, gusty winds as it moved through. Most recorded gusts were below severe thresholds, but one gust to 64 mph was recorded at the KDRO ASOS at 6:33 PM MDT. No reports of damages, injuries, or fatalities were received.

Wider weather episode

Unusually high moisture and instability values across eastern Utah and western Colorado led to widespread shower and thunderstorm activity on the 30th. These storms produced heavy rain and strong, gusty winds along with frequent lightning and some hail. The San Juan mountains and points south saw the most active weather of the event.
