Event narrative

Rainfall amount of 0.37 inches fell in 10 to 15 minutes causing minor street flooding in Fruita as drains could not keep up. Rates were 1 to 2 inch per hour.

Wider weather episode

A low pressure moving into the Great Basin with high pressure to the east allowed deeper sub-tropical moisture to increase across the area. The best moisture remained across southeast Utah and southwest Colorado with a later start to storm development due to morning cloud cover. Heavy rain occurred with some storms with minor street flooding occurring in Mesa County and Garfield County.
