After much needed rainfall came across Central Alabama in late July and early August, another dry spell across Central Alabama again worsened drought conditions, with some northwestern counties seeing Severe (D2) conditions redevelop. By the end of the month, a ridge of high pressure dominated the South, with multiple dry days with highs in the upper 90s.
