A measured high wind gust of 59 mph occurred at ASOS station KNYC, located in Central Park, NY, at 1054 PM Local Standard Time. In addition, broadcast media reported a tree down on two cars, blocking 102nd Street between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue at an estimated time of 100 PM.

An area of low pressure slowly approached from the Mid-Atlantic coast and passed just south and east of Long Island, NY. A tight pressure gradient around the low pressure center helped produce high winds southeastern New York on April 3, 2024 through the early morning hours of April 4, 2024.
