At 955 PM Local Standard Time, a measured high wind gust of 62 mph was recorded at a mesonet station in Fordham, NY at an elevation of 188 feet above ground level. In addition, broadcast media reported downed tree branches at 187 Grand Concourse in South Bronx at 330 PM Local Standard Time.

An area of low pressure slowly approached from the Mid-Atlantic coast and passed just south and east of Long Island, NY. A tight pressure gradient around the low pressure center helped produce high winds southeastern New York on April 3, 2024 through the early morning hours of April 4, 2024.
