Wider weather episode

Scattered thunderstorms developed over southwest Nebraska and western Kansas during the late afternoon hours of August 26th, then shifted east-northeast during the evening hours along the resultant outflow boundary. The vast majority of this activity was only loosely organized due to generally weak deep layer wind shear. However, a couple severe wind gusts in the 60-65 MPH range were observed by mesonets in Buffalo County between 9-10PM CDT. No additional severe weather occurred with this event as a broad shield of rain and embedded weak storms continued eastward across the remainder of south central Nebraska into the overnight.
