Event narrative

Several pictures and videos via social media of three separate waterspouts reported to the office. Locations were in the Pamlico Sound north of Frisco.

Wider weather episode

A cold front moved into Eastern North Carolina from the north during the afternoon of August 30th. Out ahead of this front, the seabreeze combined with multiple boundaries leftover from the prior days thunderstorm activity to provide a focus for additional shower and thunderstorm development during the afternoon on August 30th. A few of these storms became strong to severe in nature, mainly across the Pamlico Sound bringing a threat for waterspouts in the strongest storms.
