Event narrative

Mesonet station GW0416 Joplin measured a severe caliber gust.

Wider weather episode

A southwesterly flow aloft combined with ample surface heating to result in deep inverted-V soundings. Thunderstorms that formed along the Rocky Mountain Front moved eastward through the afternoon and early evening, resulting in a few strong wind gusts. This episode will also contain a gust from the Dillon area on the 15th from strong outflow. Deep inverted-V soundings supported this stronger gust.
