Event narrative

Dept. of Highways and Emergency Management reported several roads washed out in the Keene/Keene Valley area of Essex County due to excessive rainfall of 2 to 4 inches. These included, but were not limited to Route 9N between Keene and Elizabethtown, and Route 73 in Keene Valley at Johns Brook.

Wider weather episode

The remnants of TS Beryl combined with deep tropical moisture and a stationary front draped across the region produced multiple rounds of heavy showers and storms. This led to numerous reports of flash flooding, some locally severe across portions of eastern New York, mainly in Essex County.
