Event narrative

Dept. of Highways and Emergency Mgmt. reported several roads damaged and/or washed out in and in the vicinity of Westport, NY due to 3 to 5 inches of excessive rainfall. These included, but were not limited to NY Route 22 between Main St. and Walker Rd., Route 9N, Ledge Hill Rd. and Lake Shore Rd.

Wider weather episode

The remnants of TS Beryl combined with deep tropical moisture and a stationary front draped across the region produced multiple rounds of heavy showers and storms. This led to numerous reports of flash flooding, some locally severe across portions of eastern New York, mainly in Essex County.
