What the National Weather Service wrote

Dept. of Highways and Emergency Management reported several roads closed and/or damaged due to high water/flash flooding as a result of 3 to 5 inches of excessive rainfall. These included, but were not limited to NY Route 9, Stevenson Rd. and Bigelow Rd.

The wider storm

The remnants of TS Beryl combined with deep tropical moisture and a stationary front draped across the region produced multiple rounds of heavy showers and storms. This led to numerous reports of flash flooding, some locally severe across portions of eastern New York, mainly in Essex County.
