Event narrative

A Mesonet station on the Lordsburg Playa near mile marker 7 reported a peak gust of 67 mph. Several other stations on the playa reported gusts of 60 to 65 mph.

Wider weather episode

An upper ridge was located over the Great Basin with northeast aloft across southern New Mexico. At the surface, dry air existed with dew point depressions around 50 degrees. A few thunderstorms moved southwest across the Lordsburg Playa that produced wind gusts to over 60 mph and near zero visibilities.
