Event narrative

A member of the public reported a tree down on a shed on their property.

Wider weather episode

The first of a three-day stretch of hot and humid conditions began on July 15, 2024 across much of eastern New York. Heat indices (or feel-like temperatures) reached between 95 to 104 degrees mainly along the Hudson Valley region.

The hot, humid environment contributed to the development of a cluster of thunderstorms that impact eastern New York in the evening hours of July 15th. Two broken lines of convection became severe in nature, leading to numerous reports of tree and wire damage in the Eastern Catskills and Mohawk Valley in addition to a few isolated reports in the Upper-Hudson Valley.
