Event narrative

Significant flooding was reported in Gates county. Several pictures relayed through social media showed flooding of roads and yards up to the bottom of cars and houses. One car had water to the top of the rim of the tires.

Wider weather episode

Scattered thunderstorms along a frontal boundary produced heavy rain which caused flash flooding across portions of northeast North Carolina.
