The Jones Fire started in mid July due to a lightning strike 7 miles south of I-70 near the Colorado/Utah state line in the Black Ridge Wilderness of the McInnis National Conservation Area. The fire grew to 215 acres before it was contained in mid to late July. The estimated final cost was $650,000.
