Event narrative

Frenchtown Rural Fire District rpeorted a structure fire after a pine tree crashed onto a power line in Alberton, causing the lines to arc. The Mineral County Disaster and Emergency Services reported that its phone lines were down. The severe winds of the derecho clipped the southeastern third of Mineral County.

Wider weather episode

Hurricane force winds from a rare derecho brought widespread damage to west-central Montana. The Montana governor issued an executive order declaring a disaster in both Missoula and Mineral counties due to the extent of the damage and impact.
