Event narrative

Public reported multiple trees blown down across northern Catawba County, including on Springs Rd near Lee Cline Rd, on River Bend Rd, on I-40, and on Herman Rd, where a large tree fell on and damaged a house. Additionally, a gas station canopy was destroyed north of Claremont.

Wider weather episode

Scattered to numerous thunderstorms developed across western North Carolina, mainly during the late afternoon and evening. Several of the storms produced brief swaths of damaging wind gusts. Meanwhile, training thunderstorms resulted in very heavy rainfall and flash flooding in Henderson County.
