Persistent high pressure brought excessive heat to northeast Siskiyou and northwest Modoc counties for 4 consecutive days from July 6th through July 9th, then temperatures were just a little below excessive values on July 10th and 11th. Excessive heat returned on July 12th and 13th. Low temperatures were generally in the lower 50s to upper 60s, and high temperatures in the mid 90s to 101 degrees.

A persistent ridge over the western states with an associated thermal trough extending from northern California into southern Oregon brought a long-duration heat wave.
