Thunderstorms formed during the afternoon and evening hours across southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi in response to high instability. Drier mid-level air mixed into these storms, which aided in the production of hail and microbursts. The strongest storms were able to produce hail and severe winds before dissipating after the sun went down.
