Event narrative

The Current River at Montauk State Park rose to just below official minor flood stage during the evening of September 23. The river rose three feet in a matter of two hours and caused evacuations at the campgrounds of the park.

Wider weather episode

A heavy rainfall event occurred during the period of September 22 and September 23. An area of 2 to 4 inches of rainfall occurred in Webster, Dent and Texas counties which did cause an increase in area creeks and streams.
