A wind gust of 47 knots (54 MPH) was measured by the ASOS at Patuxent River Naval Air Station (KNHK) adjacent to the Chesapeake Bay and tidal Patuxent River.
Wider weather episode
A hot, humid, and very unstable airmass resulted in scattered pulse thunderstorms. Several of these thunderstorms drifted over area waterways resulting in gale- to storm-force wind gusts.
