A thunderstorm produced an estimated wind gust to 34 knots (39 MPH) near the Cove Point NOS sensor (COVM2).
Wider weather episode
Bands of thunderstorms produced numerous instances of gale-force winds with a few instances of storm-force winds during the late afternoon to mid evening hours. There was even at least one instance of hurricane-force wind gusts over the upper Chesapeake Bay.
