Event narrative
Heavy rains from a thunderstorm fell upstream of Indian Creek and Salt Creek Wash between 1630 and 1800. Water flowed through both Indian Creek and Salt Creek Wash where it intersects with Highway 211 in Canyonlands National Park Needles District causing flash flooding with water flowing rapidly through the washes with some small tree branches.
Wider weather episode
High pressure over Texas and low pressure over the Baja Coast kept a deep southerly flow of monsoonal moisture across the Four Corners region. Training storms led to significant flash flooding across southeast Utah.
