Heavy rain from a thunderstorm resulted in mud and small rocks across Highway 139 near Douglas Pass.

Ample monsoonal moisture was in place on the afternoon of August 10, along with some modest upper level support in the form of passing shortwaves and an upper level jet. This scenario supported widespread strong to severe convection across the region, resulting in severe wind gusts as well as heavy rain that led to multiple debris flows.
