The Prairie Fire started in mid September 19 miles west-northwest of Mack, Colorado just north of Interstate 70 on the Utah side near the Colorado-Utah stateline due to a lightning strike. The fire grew to 1,921 acres before it was contained a couple days later in mid September. The estimated cost to date was $375,000.
