For multiple sites across Daniels County, wind speeds of at least 40 mph were common from the morning to the mid afternoon. A peak wind gust of 65 mph was recorded at the Scobey NW mesonet site at 12:40 PM and at the Navajo MT-5 DOT site (MTRED) at 1:45 PM.

Wider weather episode

A powerful cold front, along with light showers, transported very strong upper level winds down to the surface, bringing powerful wind gusts to the region.
