A waterspout was sighted over Little Traverse Bay with a line of showers and thunderstorms that produced small hail in the city of Petoskey. Both broadcast media and the public shared both photo and video evidence of this waterspout via social media.

Wider weather episode

A secondary front crossing the region amid an already fall-like air mass over seasonably mild lake waters led to the development of a brief line of showers and a few rumbles of thunder. This line also included a brief waterspout over Little Traverse Bay.
