Event narrative

Six to twelve inches of swift moving water blocked VA-810 Dyke Road in a couple of locations in the 8800 Block, including at Roach River which rose rapidly out of its banks.

Wider weather episode

Tropical moisture ahead of Helene combined with a stalled boundary and instability to bring heavy rainfall across central Virginia. This led to instances of flooding and flash flooding.
