A local 911 call center reported multiple trees down across Route 10A, making the road impassable.

Wider weather episode

A slow moving upper level disturbance and two back to back cold fronts brought scattered showers and thunderstorms to Eastern New York on August 4-5, 2024. A handful of storms became severe between the two days, yielding several reports of downed trees and wires. A few of these instances led to road blockages that restricted traffic for brief times.
