Event narrative

Water began rising during the morning hours of the 4th. Minor flooding of low-lying areas was observed in Golovin, including the old runway.

Wider weather episode

Strong low pressure developed in the Bering Sea and pushed a front through the Bering Strait and to the West Coast of Alaska. The strongest winds were associated with the front. Strong and gusty southerly winds up to 55 mph developing through the Bering Strait, resulted in water levels to rise along the Seward Peninsula coast.
