Event narrative
Heavy rainfall over the northern Interior caused rapid rises on the Alatna and Kuyokuk Rivers. The water came up 4 to 6 feet in three days on the Alatna River and the Koyukuk was very high with debris and flooding. In Allakaket, water flooding the boat launch, as well as fish camps along the river.
Wider weather episode
A series of storms dropped copious amounts of rainfall across northern Alaska from August 15th through the 23rd. This rainfall caused rapid rises on streams and rivers which resulted in localized flooding of low-lying areas along northern Interior rivers.
