Water began rising during the morning hours of the 21st. Minor flooding of low-lying areas was observed in Golovin, including the old runway.
Wider weather episode
The remnants of Typhoon Ampil brought strong and gusty winds up to 55 mph to the West Coast. These strong winds resulted in water levels to rise along the southern Seward Peninsula.
