Wider weather episode
A warm front associated with a large area of low pressure over the Central Great Lakes tracked through and east of the area. Clearing skies behind the front and a trough over the region initiated thunderstorms as instability increased through the daytime hours within the warm sector of the system. Overall shear values were strong enough to allow some of the thunderstorms to become strong to severe.
