The NOS tide gauge at Fort Pulaski measured wind gusts of at least 34 knots between 936 PM and 948 PM with a peak wind gust of 44 knots at 942 PM.

Strong instability, moderate levels of downdraft CAPE, ample bulk shear and a passing mid-level shortwave led to an environment supportive of strong/severe thunderstorms upstream, before activity approached the coast and entered coastal waters with a cold front during evening hours.
