Wider weather episode
At the surface, a cold front drifted southeastward from the Upper MS River Valley to far-southwestern ON, far-western Lake Erie, and northwest OH between the early afternoon of the 23rd and late morning of the 24th as a low moved east-northeastward from central Lake Michigan to Georgian Bay. The cold front then advanced farther southeastward to eastern Lake Erie, northwest PA, and northeast OH by the early evening of the 24th as the low moved northeastward to southwestern QC. This cold front encountered a warm and humid sector along the northwestern flank of the Bermuda-Azores subtropical high pressure ridge. Along and ahead of the cold front, several rounds of multicell thunderstorms impacted northeast OH and generated damaging straight-line convective wind gusts. These storms occurred in an environment comprised of moderate effective bulk shear, MUCAPE, and DCAPE, respectively.
