Law enforcement reported that a tree fell on a car, resulting in a fatality. This was confirmed by broadcast media from Henrico Police and Fire.

A cold front approached Virginia from the west on August 18. Scattered thunderstorms developed ahead of the front, producing large hail, damaging winds, and localized flash flooding.
