Large tree down blocking the left exit lane on Interstate 684 southbound just north of Route 22.
Wider weather episode
An upper level trough slowly approached the area as a stalled frontal boundary sat just to our west. With an environment with about 1500 J/kg of MLCAPE and 30 kt of Effective Bulk Shear, thunderstorms that developed were able to become severe and produce damaging wind gusts and large hail.
