Event narrative

The public reported damage to a barn via social media east of Elkader. The barn had its door blown in and half of the roof blown off.

Wider weather episode

On September 19th, a lone severe thunderstorm developed a very impressive hail core aloft as it moved into Howard County. As it progressed through Howard County, it dropped quarter sized hail southeast of Riceville which damaged crops. Later into the evening, additional storms developed near the Mississippi River bringing isolated wind damage to Clayton County.
