Mesonet site at the Babylon Yacht Club measured a 47 knot wind gust.

The wider storm

A slow moving cold front approached from the north at the surface while a well-defined shortwave trough approached aloft. With a very moist airmass in place ahead of the cold front, some thunderstorms that developed became severe and produced damaging wind gusts.
