Event narrative
Media reported flash flooding developed across the north side of Greer after after 2.5 to 4 inches of rain fell in just a couple of hours. A tributary of the Tyger River overflowed its banks, with water inundating roads of a subdivision, submerging vehicles and entering the lowest floor of some homes.
Wider weather episode
Isolated thunderstorms and storm clusters moved across upstate South Carolina throughout the afternoon and evening. A couple of the storms produced brief damaging wind gusts. One cluster of storms became nearly stationary for a while across Spartanburg County during the evening, resulting in flash flooding.
