2024-09-08 · near Hollister, Putnam, Florida

Event narrative

Hunter road was reported to be underwater

for several miles. Water was deep and moving

swiftly. Around 10 PM, a swift water rescue

was conducted by airboat to rescue two

people whose car was stranded in the

floodwaters along Hunter Rd. The people were

rescued from the roof of their car. Hunter

Rd has been closed due to impassable

flooding.

Wider weather episode

A surface front continued to meander near the FL-GA state line. This feature combined with a very saturated airmass and slow steering flow promoted pockets of heavy rainfall where diurnally enhanced convection developed across NE FL.
