Mesonet site ROBN4 at Robbins Reef NJ measured a 40 knot wind gust.

Wider weather episode

An upper level trough approached aloft as a cold front approached at the surface. Clusters of showers and thunderstorms developed west of the area. Given 0-6 km Bulk Shear and MLCAPE values around 1000 J/kg, some storms became severe and produced damaging wind gusts.
