Mesonet site at City Island NY measured a 51 knot wind gust.

An upper level trough approached aloft as a cold front approached at the surface. Clusters of showers and thunderstorms developed west of the area. Given 0-6 km Bulk Shear and MLCAPE values around 1000 J/kg, one storm became severe and produced damaging wind gusts.
